This race is invite-only** to the fastest 6th-8th graders who have signed up for the Middle School Mile.
All accepted athletes for the Junior High Invite Mile were emailed on 5/31. This year we were able to take athletes with 1600m or equivalent times of 5:25 or faster for the girls race and 4:45 or faster for the boys race.

Part of the mission of the Festival of Miles Foundation is to showcase our great sport at all levels and what better way to do that than to give kids the chance to run a mile themselves.

* Please select the grade level your child just completed when registering. Participants in the Healthy Kids Mile and Middle School Mile start on the track, run through SLUH’s campus and finish back on the track under the finish arch! KIDS RACE COURSE MAP

** To be considered for the Junior High Invite Miles, you must register for the Middle School Mile. We will “invite” the kids with the top 20 times (recorded during the 2026 outdoor track season) for each gender. All submitted times will be verified. We will inform participants the week of the race (typically Monday) if they have been accepted into the Invite Mile fields. If you run a faster mile time after you register, email katie.helbig@gmail.com to have it updated. The deadline to register for and be considered for the Junior Invite Miles is Sunday, May 31 at 8 p.m. The Junior High Invite Miles are raced entirely on the main track. NOTE: All accepted athletes for the Junior High Invite Mile were emailed on 5/31. This year we were able to take athletes with 1600m or equivalent times of 5:25 or faster for the girls race and 4:45 or faster for the boys race. 

Helpful Information:

  • Online kids race registration will remain open until race time, but early registration is recommended.
  • Entry includes an official FOM shirt (while supplies last), chip timing and event admission.
  • Parents/spectators must purchase an admission ticket to accompany kids race registrants at event. Tickets can be pre-purchased DURING Kids Race Registration for $5. This deal is only being offered during kids race registration. Entry tickets purchased at the event will be $10 for adults and $5 for children age 5 through high school. Proceeds go to the event’s Athlete In Need.
  • Race bib will act as admission ticket for registered runners.
