Kids Races

Why do we have kid’s races?

Part of the mission of the Festival of Miles Foundation is to showcase our great sport at all levels and what better way to do that than to give kids the chance to run a mile themselves.

We offer three opportunities for kids in kindergarten through 8th grade to be a part of the HOKA Festival of Miles:

Healthy Kids Mile (K – 5th graders)
Middle School Mile (6th-8th graders)
Junior High Invitational Miles (invite-only 6th-8th graders who have signed up for the Middle School Mile)

RACE FEE: $20.00

  • Online kids race registration closes at 11:59 pm on May 29. On-site registration will be available May 30 starting at 5p.

Junior High Invitational Miles (7:00 & 7:10 pm)

  • To be considered for the Junior High Invite Miles, you must register for the Middle School Mile. We will “invite” the kids with the top 20 times (recorded in 2024) for each gender. Typically, it has included boys who have run under 5:05 and girls who have run under 6:00 for the mile (or converted from 1500 meters), but varies year to year based on entries.
  • We will inform participants the week of the race if they have been accepted into the Invitational Mile fields. If you run a faster mile time after you register, email katie.helbig@gmail.com to have it updated. The deadline to register for and be considered for the Junior Invite Miles is Sunday, May 26, 2024.
